General Discussions

We will be camping on the town of Evarts side of Black Mountain. Competitors must enter the park from the Evarts side entrance and NOT via the Putney entrance. Our Campground is "Sycamore" Campground. It is inside Black Mountain Offroad Park. There is a cabin that collects park fees on your left as you enter. Competitors will bypass this cabin, continuing northbound on the gravel road. Soon after the cabin, you will see a blue shop building on your left and directly after that, Sycamore Camp is on the right.

All participants shall wear an issued wristband while inside the parks at all times, which will be obtained in Sycamore Campground. All vehicles will display a Black Mountain/Leatherwood decal at all times while inside the park as well. This is not optional, and the wristbands cannot be removed once applied, nor can they just be carried on your person. They must be worn.

You may see blackbears in and around camp. We did. Do not feed the bears and keep any food inside your vehicle at all times, even while driving. Kentucky Wildlife will put down any bear fed by humans and feeding bears is reported by park staff.

This will all be sent via email as well this is just preliminary info.

Also, 2 of the 3 days are entirely on trail. Zero roads. In fact, the ONLY road you hit is to and from Leatherwood on one of the 3 days.
